gingertart update
The blood test results were better than expected, so she is now on 2 drugs in an attempt to regulate her heart and improve her circulation. She has also decided that she will eat roast chicken and, for some reason, Swedish crisp bread rolls, as long as she thinks that she is being fed them from Mr Tart's dinner when I'm not looking. *sigh*

The other dogs are eyeing her with a degree of envious suspicion. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we may have her for a bit longer than we thought. No matter what happens, the previous dog that I lost with heart failure, died before he was 7 and the gingertart will be 11 in August, so she has at least had a lot longer than he did.

I'm glad the news was better than expected, hon. Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy more time with her while she's still feeling well. It's so hard to watch them begin to fail. I lost my Madison right after the Thanksgiving holiday. In the end we only had an extra two weeks with her, but I like to think those weeks were precious to us both. *Hugs you and offers Swedish crisp bread rolls to the girl*

I'll keep my fingers crossed with you. We had a little sheltie, Geoffrey, who was on death's door -- the vet was selling us pills two days at a time because he didn't think he'd last a whole week. Then I brought home a roast chicken and Geoffrey -- who hadn't eaten in a week -- suddenly got his appetite back. The stuff works miracles. And we had the G-man for another four years.

So that is a very, very good sign for your gingertart.

	crosses fingers Thank you! I don't think we'll have anything like 4 years, but she ate scrambled eggs with ham and cheese for breakfast and came out for a gentle walk around the field. Am waiting to see how she reacts to the drugs. (Reply to this) (Parent)
